Transportable Homes for Australian Miners
January 26th, 2012My husband works as a miner in Western Australia. On site, he lives in transportable homes. Transportable homes are houses that are pre-built off site before being moved on site. They make great housing for miners as they can be moved onto a different location should the site be changed. Also, it would be costly to get tradesmen out to build houses on site as mining sites are usually located in very remote areas. Having prebuilt homes moved in is a much cheaper way of keeping housing costs down for mining companies.
My husband is usually away from home for a few weeks at a time which can be difficult for him. It is nice that he gets to stay in the same mobile home even if his work shifts to a different site. Of course, the mining camp also includes facilities like a kitchen, cafeteria, recreational room and laundry- everything the miners need to live comfortably.
Transportable homes can be built in as little as five weeks. This is great for companies who are in a hurry to get housing up so they can start work as soon as possible. Don’t be fooled into thinking you are getting sub-par housing, transportable homes are constructed of excellent material and are designed to take on even the harshest of Australian conditions.
